Han Jeong Shik II — Marinated Crab Lunch

Posted by: ZenKimchi   in Korean Food 101

Here we go again with the marinated crab.

This was a restaurant that specialized in SundaeGuk 순대국, and I was going to order it. Then I saw on a handwritten sign “Marinated Crab Lunch” (Kei-jang Jeong Shik 게장 한정식).

Had to try that. I know my mom would die over it.

We started off with the side dishes and a bowl with nothing in it but some dried seaweed, chopped green onions, sesame seeds, and a raw egg yolk.

Then the crab came out. Soy Sauce Marinated Crab this time with a special device for picking out the meat.

I was also given some rice to put in the big bowl to be mixed with the egg yolk and whatever crab meat I could dig out.

Freakin’ amazing! You’ve never tasted anything like this. Salty, strong sea taste with the seaweed, and very strong umami flavor with the crab meat and egg yolk.
