I used to get hated in Korea when I didn’t wrap my beef Kalbi in a lettuce since then I will end up cleaning up all the pieces of meat while my friends were busy wrapping their stuff. The price of beef in Korea affects table manner. hmm I wonder if this wrapping part came about due to the expensive beef price. People don’t usually wrap their grilled pork or chicken… but mostly only beef.

That’s all I eat is pork kalbi. Beef kalbi is more popular in America. Yet Korea has some of the most ridiculously high beef prices on the planet. So eating beef kalbi is out of the question except on special occasions.

You’ve yet to try the more interesting kalbi–pork. Although Koreans probably don’t get as worked up about the beef-pork BBQ question (as, for instance, Southerners do), those who have tried the pork version may even prefer it. I won’t spoil the fun for you by telling you all, but I heartily recommend it!
