Busan Mike, the exiled British citizen, reports that the designs of Korean apartment buildings will be required to change come next March to something less — depressing.
I always thought it would be so easy to be an architect in Korea. Just design one concrete apartment box and turn in the same design over and over. Need beer money for the week? Photocopy my apartment blueprints and hand them to Samsung Rae-mi-an.
The soviet-style architecture has been one of the most criticized aspects of Korea’s landscape from visitors. Yet, as you can see from the header on this site, when you climb a mountain, there is a certain Warhol-ian splendor in the patterns they create.
