I applaud your effort, but I quickly gave up on the packets of maxim for a caffeine fix and started bring in my own pour-over coffee maker.

I've also found that ordering beans from quality roasters in the states can cost less than buying the same amount of inferior coffee here, even factoring in shipping. (~$40 for 2lbs. of excellent coffee from Paradise Roasters, shipped direct from America, vs. the average price of 60-70,000krw for the same amount here...).

Just to throw this out there. In my a opinion, a passable whole coffee bean for an alright price would be "Rosebud, American blend, and Rose bud Hotel blend." It is 500 grams for 9000 to 10,000 won.

A good one that is double the price are the E-mart brands. These ones are sold at E-mart and Shinsegae department stores. These ones are 250 grams for about 9,000 a pack, these ones are quite good, not that much different from Rosebud. You can find the Rosebud ones at Homeplus, or if you are in the Gyeonsangdo area it is also at "Topmart."

If you had made a recipe with instant non-dairy creamer, you really would have made the ultimate Korean instant coffee! I would try this, but I don't own a microwave, oddly enough, and I dunno that I would use a pan just to heat up the milk.
