I’m not surprised that this kind of festival would be popular. Grilled cheese sandwiches are one of those classic American comfort foods. It’s also not surprising that people can and do come up with wacky, fun versions of the original as well. : )

Thanks, Tammy; I can’t believe I’ve never tried this before. I’m past due for lunch right now, and this picture is killing me. By the way, my boyfriend and I went to the Grilled Cheese Invitational last year and the line to get in was out of control, much like the recent Street Food Fest, which shows an obvious desire for more of these kinds of events and a need to revamp the system. One of my friends was in line for over two hours, then they shut the line down just as she was about to get in!
