I’m a big fan of all Korean barbecue, particularly the wood smoked kind. There’s a popular stop in Anyang that smoked their “Q” in a choo-choo-train-shaped smoker. Ordering the mixed grill brings a load of protein, including duck, pork belly, pork ribs, sausage and shrimp. The owner also runs a makkoli company, so try his special brew. They end the meal with a wild sesame sujebi–like a creamy chicken and dumplings with a nutty taste. So comforting! Make sure to bring friends or just ask for a doggie bag (“pojang haejuseyo”) for tomorrow’s breakfast.
