How to Remember Michael Jackson

I’ve had the whole day to absorb it, and I was unprepared for how Michael Jackson’s passing would affect me.  I loved “Off the Wall” and “Thriller” when I was an idiotic kid but hated everything after that as I became an idiotic teenager and idiotic adult.

I can’t believe I just went and bought the 25th Anniversary edition of Thriller from iTunes just now.  Listening to it.  It even comes with a couple of classic videos.

It’s a childhood summer of swimming at the pool.  Someone had a boombox with Thriller playing.  My faves were the B-sides (if any could be considered so on that album), like “P.Y.T.”, “Human Nature” and “Wanna Be Startin’ Something.”

They weren’t as flashy as the other tracks, but they had something subtle going on–maybe (blasphemy coming) a little of Michael Jackson’s Sergeant Pepper moments.

Nonetheless, here’s how I want to remember him.  With my favorite parodies.
